The right printing temperatures for PLA, PETG and ABS/ASA

Every family has its own ideal temperature, and within one family even the colour pigment can shift it by a few degrees. The fastest way to find your range is a temperature tower.

Starting ranges

  • PLA / PLA+: nozzle 200–220 °C · bed 55–60 °C
  • Silk PLA: nozzle 210–230 °C — near the top end for gloss
  • PETG: nozzle 230–250 °C · bed 70–80 °C
  • ABS / ASA: nozzle 240–260 °C · bed 95–110 °C
  • TPU 95A: nozzle 210–230 °C · slow, with retraction off

Temperature tower

Print a single tower that drops 5 °C every 10 mm. You see stringing, sagging and layer bonding side by side and pick the best value by eye for that exact spool.

Cooling

Full fan is fine for PLA; PETG wants 30–50% — more than that weakens layer bonding. For ABS/ASA the fan should be almost off, or the part will warp.

These figures are a starting point; the label on every spool carries the range measured for that batch.
